Full Description
Road bridge, the old bridge of Ellon built 1793 at the expense of the third Earl of Aberdeen. Built of coursed pinned rubble with granite ashlar dressings, it has three segmental keyblocked arches, triangular cutwaters and a long south approach with flood arch. The central arch is longer than the other two. It is the last surviving example of the work of Banff stonemason James Robertson. It was replaced by a new road bridge in the 1940s.
Period Notes
Dated 1793; disused 1944. Old notes state 'replaced 1940' but there is no evidence for this.
