Full Description

The trawler FV WINDWARD HO (H 692), under Captain George Eddom, was mined and sunk by German submarine UC-49 (under the command of Oblt. Alfred Arnold) on the 9th May 1917, 3 miles S from Peterhead, while she was en route from Hull to fishing grounds. Eight lives were lost including the Skipper. Dived on by Buchan Divers who report that she lies upright and intact with a slight list to starboard. The stern is badly damaged and all the propeller blades have been blown off. The wreck was found by divers in 2012.
