Full Description

Remains of a recumbent stone circle, of which two stones remain, the recumbent and the flanking upright to the west. An 18th century plan indicates the circle to have been circa 14 m in overall diameter. The stones stood on a well-defined ridge of earth and stones, with a flat and undisturbed interior.

In the dyke which had been built up against the pillar on the west, and at the east end of the recumbent stone, there stood several great stones, two of these are within a few metres of the pillar. The others on the east were both massive and numerous. The surviving west pillar and the recumbent, lying east-west, are both of granite. OS in 1964 also noted another stone 1m west of the pillar. All pillars are incorporated into a modern field wall. The large stones built into the wall east of the recumbent may have been removed from the circle.
