Full Description
Isolated, upright stone, possibly of granite, standing on a grass verge. Survey was carried out by Headland Archaeology in 2012 ahead of the proposed Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route. The stone, triangular in profile, measures 1m by 0.4-0.5m, and stands between 0.2 and 0.9m high. It appears to be supported to the southeast by a small earthen mound. No markings or signs of working are evident. It has been suggested as a possible boundary stone , but it is not shown on the OS 1st and 2nd edition maps. Given that it rests on the embankment of the road which appears to post date a map of 1832, and earliest date of mid 19th century is suggested.
