Full Description
World War II anti-tank blocks along Meni Links. Possible type 24 pillbox identified from postwar RAF vertical air photographs circa 400 m north of the mouth of the Menie Burn at circa NJ92SE0132.. About 200m to the south are traces of a line of anti-tank blocks. Neither pillbox or blocks were located in RCAHMS visit 1996, and the pillbox was not located during survey by AOC Archaeology in 2006, when it may have been covered by sand, although anti-tank blocks that formed part of the same defence system were visible at that time. The remains of a pillbox north of the Menie Burn exposed by winter storms and recorded in February 2014, may be this pillbox seen on the air photos. A number of anti-tank blocks were also noted in the vicinity. A line of blocks originally extended from Foveran Links to Blackdog Links.
