Full Description
Stone which bears a latin cross, 18cm by 19cm, on its upper surface. Where the arms of the cross intersect there is a hole or socket 15cm deep. It is a large earthfast boulder, situated immediately northwest of a drainage ditch in the south corner of the field immediately southeast of Cross Stone farmstead. The terminals of the arms of the cross are rounded. The diameter of the hole or socket is too small to have held an iron fence-post, as has previously been suggested. It is circa 2 m from the Ellon parish boundary and may be a post-hole in an old boundary marker.
