Full Description

A grass-grown cairn, with a flat top with exposed stones, situated on a low but prominent hill. It measures about 11.3m in diameter by 1.5m in height, and has been set on top of a natural mound. In the northwest segment there is a berm 2m wide which may have encircled the cairn. There is old disturbance in base of cairn in the north (hole put in from level of berm with soil deposited on berm). A modern dyke encircles the cairn. Early Bronze Age food vessel fragments were found but their exact location in cairn unknown. In 1961 the OS considered that the whole mound was artificial, and stated that it measured 30m in diameter by 3.6m in height, but more recent erosion makes it clear that the base of the mound is of natural origin.
