Full Description

Farmstead, still in use, depicted on historic maps. It was named Drumforskie on the OS 1st edition, which shows three buildings arranged in a U-plan with two rectangular buildings to the east. The farm had gained its present name Redcraigs by the time of the 2nd edition map. By this time the eastern two buildings had been removed, the other three buildings altered to form a larger L-plan range and a new house added to the south. Building survey was carried out by MAS in 2012 ahead of proposed conversion of the steading to holiday units. At that time only the west range of the steading remained and there were few original features, Redcraigs is a typical example of a small Aberdeenshire improvement farm, whose present form probably dates to the later half of the 19th century.
