Plaque stating that the foundation stone was laid in 1938 and the bridge opened by the Queen in 1941. It reads 'CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF ABERDEEN: KING GEORGE VI BRIDGE. THE FOUNDATION STONE OF THIS BRIDGE WAS LAID BY LORD PROVOST EDWARD W. WATT ON 15TH SEPTEMBER 1938.... ' See also NJ90SW0985 for the bridge.
