Full Description

Former Free Church, built in 1843, shown on the OS 1st edition map as a Free Church and a school, with the school no longer shown on the 2nd edition OS map. Now in residential use. The church of St Devenicks is a plain classic oblong shape with projecting porch surmounted by bell turret. There is dormer clerestory lighting. The west end of the church has a small attached vestry with a chimney. The walls are harled and there are granite window surrounds and skew stones. Within the churchyard is the Stewart Vault, small octagonal and in gothic style, built of ashlar with a domed roof and dated 1895. It lies adjacent to the burial ground. The church was converted to private flats in 1989.
