Full Description

Modern Brutalist multi-storey 'slab' blocks of flats (19-storey and 9-storey) designed by Aberdeen City Architects Department 1959 (completed 1966) for the Aberdeen Housing Committee as part of a comprehensive building programme. The two blocks are connected by a pair of enclosed glazed footbridges. Virginia Court contains 48 maisonette flats laid out on a crossover section, Porthill Court has 108 flats. Constructed with reinforced concrete frame with smooth-finished precast concrete cladding and poured concrete tapered columns. Interiors of the common areas retain their 1960s layout with some original finishes and fixtures. Most of the exterior windows, doors and fixtures have been replaced.
