Tenement with shops at ground floor, depicted on historic OS maps, probably of early to mid 19th century date. It is a 6-bay, 3-storey, constructed of granite. The pend which has arched openings at each end leads into Brebner Court of which some elements remain. The footprint of the building follows the original medieval layout of Ship Row, the property being double-fronted. The interior was largely gutted and refurbished in the 20th century for commercial use, the windows also being replaced at this time. The present flat roof probably dates from this time. A new stair tower serves the upper floor of the premises. No.86 appears to have been used as a licenced premises from the earliest date, and is shown as a public house on historic maps. No.82 appears to always have been associated with the selling of merchandise. Towards the end of the 19th century it was in use as an eating house.
