Full Description
Commemorative plaque to the Freedom Lands of Aberdeen, unveiled in 1969 marking the 650th anniversary of the granting of the Royal Stocket Forest to Aberdeen by Robert the Bruce in gratitude for the support he received from its citizens. The plaque is set on a large boulder in the grounds of the school, which was believed to be near the centre of the Freedom Lands. The dedication reads '1319-1969 ERECTED BY SUMMERHILL SCHOOL IN THE CENTRE OF THE FREEDOM LANDS TO COMMEMORATE THE GRANTING OF THE ROYAL STOCKET FOREST TO THE COMMUNITY OF ABERDEEN BY ROBERT THE BRUCE KING OF SCOTS'.
