Villas, designed by George Coutts, 1884-87. They are a pair of two-storey, two-bay semi-detached villas with tooled coursed granite ashlar with finely finished dressings to the south-west elevation and Aberdeen bond granite rubble to the remainder. There are projecting cills, doorways corniced with consoles, pilastered panelled timber doors with letter-box fanlights, a dividing band course, first floor cill course, eaves course, modern glazing to Number 44 and two-pane timber sash and case windows to Number 46. The principal elevation is asymmetrical, nos 44 and 36 both with a 3-light bowed window through the ground and first floors of the flanking bay to the right with a half-domed roof, fishscale slates and decorative iron brattishing, and curvilinear gable breaking the eaves surmounted by triangular pediment. There is a circular-plan tower to outer left angle (No. 46) with a doorway to the centre of the ground floor, two narrow windows to the first floor, domed fishscale slate roof and iron finial to apex.The grey slate roof has a lead ridge, coped stone skews, corniced gablehead and ridge stacks with octagonal cans and cast-iron rainwater goods with decorative hoppers. There is a low granite boundary wall to the west surmounted by railings and coped rubble walls to the north.
