Full Description
A memorial presented by Mr and Mrs Cooper to the Aberdeen Naval Authorities commemorates fallen naval personnel. It comprises a granite panel with granite surrounds and plinth. The roll of honour comprises two finely dressed recessed slabs, with an inscription which reads: 'PRESENTED TO ABERDEEN NAVAL AUTHORITIES BY MR AND MRS GEORGE COOPER OF ABERDEEN IN MEMORY OF' followed by a list of 18 names. Below is an anchor and rope motif in relief. In 1916 a Royal Navy seaman was killed in action, but as his body was not claimed he was buried in a strangers area of Trinity Cemetery (NJ90NW1246). Mr Cooper purchased a lair to be used for any naval burials and erected the memorial. .
