Full Description

Cemetery depicted on the OS 1st edition map, and extended to its current extent by the time of the OS 2nd edition map. The entrance is flanked by a pair of single storey gate lodges, built possibly circa 1824-5 in neo-Greek style, with iron gates of trellis pattern. The graves include that of Victoria Cross recipient Sapper John Perie, awarded the VC on 24 February 1857 for his actions in rescuing wounded comrades during the Siege of Sebastopol. There are a total of 62 Commonwealth war graves of the First and Second World Wars in the cemetery.
