Full Description

A late 18th century building, three-storey with attic, built of ashlar with cherry cocking. The boundary wall is rubble built. A watching brief was carried out by Cameron Archaeology in 2012 during works relating to new service trenches, lift shaft and internal soft strip. Monitoring of a trench excavated under the former stairwell of No. 50 for a new lift, and other small trenches dug in the building for work on the foundations recorded no archaeological features. Photographic recording was carried out in those parts of the building subject to soft strip which revealed granite rubble construction, architectural details and the original back wall of the building.
