Full Description

House, now also in commercial use, dated 1821. It is a two-storey and attic, three-window rubble-built house with a centre wallhead gable. The skew is dated 1821 and initialled I.C.E. There are later ground floor shops. The 1st edition shows the house with a long garden to the rear, containing a sundial. By the time of the 2nd edition map a new house (now No. 63 High Street) had been built in the west end of the garden. A watching brief carried out by Aberdeen City Council Archaeological Unit in 1994 during shop refurbishment at No. 59 recorded only the presence of natural sand levels circa 0.3m below the modern ground surface.
