Full Description
Club House, still in use, depicted on the OS 2nd edition map with a flagstaff on the east side. It had been extended by the time of the 3rd edition map, and smaller buildings added to the west and north. Within the clubhouse foyer are memorial plaques to members of the golf club killed during the First and Second World Wars. The earlier is a rectangular board with names in two columns and a carved inscription which reads: IN MEMORY OF THE MEMBERS WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1919. That for WWII is a varnished wooden board with gold lettering, the inscription reading: IN COMMEMORATION OF OUR MEMBERS WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY AND FOR OUR FREEDOM IN THE SECOND WORLD WAR 1939-1945
