Full Description
Traditional red brick smoke house, probably of earlier to mid 20th century date. It is rectangular in plan, a tall brick kiln projecting above a later office and fish processing units. the base of the kiln is now enclosed in breeze block. The longer east and west elevations have a steeply pitched corrugated roof rising to full width, 4-part timber-louvred ventilator with brick gablet ends. A building is shown here on the on the 2nd edition OS map, but not annotated. See also NJ90NE0169. The firm of John Ross Jr (Aberdeen) was stated as a salmon-smoking business in 1857.
