Full Description

House built by Air Vice Marshall Carnegie in 1937-8, constructed mainly of reused material, the masonry mostly from the former Aberdour Free Church and with interior fittings from there and elsewhere. Two-storey, asymmetrical, wide, 3-bay south elevation with recessed centre block with Tudor arched entrance. Dark whinstone rubble with extensive use of tooled grey granite dressings. The small RAF crest inserted in a window in the entrance hall recalls the Service connection of its builder. The bell in the arched entrance bellcote is inscribed 'Loughborough 1869'. The house stands within the Scheduled area of Castle of Dundarg promontory fort / castle (NJ86SE0014).
