Full Description
Remains of an earth and stone bank enclosing a water-logged area. The bank is surrounded by a modern drystone wall. The absence of stone in nearby field boundaries might suggest that this was always of low elevation and invites comparison with the earlier phase at Pitglassie (NJ74SW0011). Original measurements in 1871 had them at approx. 12.19 m in diameter and 1.22 m high. In 1967, measurements of the more northerly feature, a circular, earth-and-stone bank, was circa 0.6 m average height and circa 3.5 m overall width, enclosing a waterlogged area circa 9.0 m in diameter. The bank was surrounded by a modern drystone wall. There was no trace in 1967 of the more southerly feature, in a cultivated field. On the OS 1st edition map it is referred to as a 'Pict's House' and on the 2nd edition as an 'earth house'.
