Full Description
Harbour constructed in the 19th century. The East pier was built in 1854 and in 1903-4 the west pier was built (James Barron, engineer) on earlier harbour site. Tooled square rubble with some concrete dressings and facings. East pier was extended in 1909 (Mr Stevenson, engineer, Edinburgh). It projects as a straight arm into sea. West pier shaped as shallow U-plan. The piers meet to form harbour entrance enclosing polygonal basin fronting shoreline at Southern Seaward face of each pier raised as seawall to shelter quayside. A shallow concrete slipway extends from shore.

The East pier was built in 1854 and in 1903-4 the west pier was built .
