Full Description
A finely-built malting kiln built into the north end of a farm building of 18th century steading of Troup Home Farm (NJ86NW0043) so probably of same date. It had been built-over for a substantial number of years and forgotten about until 1966 when re-discovered during renovations. The kiln is ovoid in structure. The internal facings are of small red bricks and is stabilised by rib-vaulting of the same brick. The arches of the vaulting are tied by greyish fireclay beams and roofed by pierced tiles of the same fireclay.

Suggested to have been constructed in the later 18th century.
