Full Description
Planned village as depicted on historic OS maps, founded in 1763 by Laird of Blyth, James Urquhart. Named Newbyth on the 1st and 2nd edition maps, the northern part (initially separate) named Fishtown. In May 1763 James Urquhart advertised that he was to establish a village, tradesmen, manufacturers and other invited to settle.
