Full Description

Former farmstead, now converted to residential use, depicted on historic OS maps. The 1st edition OS map shows a U-plan steading, with a rectangular building on the south side of the court, attached horsemill to the west, rectangular building to the east and rectangular cottage with attached garden to the south. The layout is essentially unchanged on the 2nd edition OS map. The horsemill has since been removed. A building survey of the steading was carried out by MAS in 2014 prior to partial demolition and conversion. The buildings are largely as shown on the OS 2nd edition map, although altered internally. The farmstead probably dates from between circa 1800 and 1869 when it appeared on the 1st edition OS map, although the east and west ranges appear to have been built at different times. The north end of the west range was built between 1869 and 1899. A blocking on the outer wall of the west range probably indicates the position of the horsemill shown on the OS 1st edition map.
