Remains of possible kiln, comprising a small U-shaped structure, recorded during a walkover survey by Mercer and Ralston in 1989 prior to a proposed extension of Bellmuir Quarry (NJ83NE0181). The long axis lies approximately west-northwest to east-southeast and which measures 3.3 m by 2.5 m overall. A rectilinear indentation on the east side measures 1.5 m, along long axis, by 1.3 m. Could be a damaged stone clearance heap but as no other has been damaged this may be discounted, as does a possible grouse butt as there are no others in vicinity. There are slight indications of regularly placed stones on its north side thus a structural interpretation is placed on it. It is not thought to be of great antiquity. A walkover survey carried out by Rathmell Archaeology in 2016 ahead of proposed development of Bellmuir Quarry identified the site (S7) with the structure open to the east-southeast, measuring 2.4 m by 2.1 m, with only one course of turf covered stone remaining measuring 0.5 m wide by 0.5 m high.
