Full Description
Remains of stone clearance heaps, recorded during a walkover survey by Mercer and Ralston in 1989 prior to a proposed extension of Bellmuir Quarry (NJ83NE0181). On e of these cairns was excavated by CFA in 1997 ahead of proposed quarrying. It was circa 5 m in diameter and circa 0.4 m high. A desk based assessment carried out by Rathmell Archaeology in 2016 ahead of proposed development of Bellmuir Quarry and subsequent field observation noted the site (S17) as present but did not record any further details, with the site located outwith the proposed development area.
