Full Description
Remains of a possible structure, aligned west-southwest to east-northeast with a rectangular indentation to the east, recorded during a walkover survey by Mercer and Ralston in 1989 prior to a proposed extension of Bellmuir Quarry (NJ83NE0181). A walkover survey carried out by Rathmell Archaeology in 2016 ahead of proposed development of Bellmuir Quarry identified the site (S26) with the possible structure, although not very clear, measuring overall 4.9 m by 4.6 m, the walls 1 m wide and 0.4 m high. The indentation is 2 m to the east of the structure, measuring 3.4 m by 7 m. Most of the site was covered by bracken.
