Full Description

Farmstead still in use that is depicted on the 1867 1st edition OS map. The map shows a rectangular farmhouse with an attached rectangular garden and three rectangular buildings set around a central courtyard. By the time of the 2nd edition map the buildings around the courtyad had been modified to form a G-shaped steading, and another building had been added to the south. In the later 19th century, when the farm was part of the estate of the Frazers of Philorth, the lease specified that the tenant was to drain 14ha in the first five years of his new lease and should make 'sundry alterations to the steadings and accommodate himself with houses' during the 19 year lease.
