Full Description

House and site of manor. The mansion house was built in 1818 for J W Mackenzie, a solicitor in Banff. It is a T-plan house, 2-storey with a basement, with a 3-window recessed centre bay and belt course at first floor level. It is noted as late example of a T-plan. Possible site of earlier manor (NQB). 'Pittrichie' in various forms appears on maps from the 17th century. Building survey was carried out by Cameron Archaeology in 2013. The house has been a unroofed shell for many years. It was built in a single phase from large pink and grey trimmed granite blocks with cherry cocking. Patches of harling survive on the exterior of the wells, in particular the gables. There is a small projecting date stone (1818) in the centre of the north wall. A small extension on the north wall housed the original stair. See NJ82NE0077 for designed landscape.
