Full Description

Farmstead, depicted on historic OS maps. The 1st edition shows an E-plan range with an attached horsemill with a rectangular building to the north, and T plan building within gardens to the west. To the east is a pond: this is no longer shown on the OS 2nd edition map. A standing building survey of the former farm mill and watching brief on groundworks for a new garage (see NJ81SW0285) were carried out by Cameron Archaeology in September 2013. The former mill, constructed of large granite blocks with cherry cocking, measures 9.7m by 4.1m. The north wall originally had three apertures, probably for drive shafts; it was possibly used as a threshing mill. No archaeological features were observed during the watching brief, but this area had previously been disturbed, planted with trees and then used for dumping of material.
