Full Description
Field clearance heaps. Over 150 have been recorded. This group of more than 150 small field clearance heaps is located in Slacks forest, 130m south-west of a Bronze Age cairn (NJ81SW0015). These piles of stones would have been collected together when the land was first cultivated, probably in the late 19th century. The Ordnance Survey 1867 map shows this area under woodland.
