Full Description
Pictish symbol stone, found in 1801 forming the foundation for the southeast corner of the old church of Kinellar (NJ81SW0051). Class I symbol stone showing a disc over a crescent and V-rod. It is a slab of granite, of irregular shape, pointed at the top, 3 ft 3 inches high by 1 ft 10 inches wide, sculptured with incised lines on one face. Formerly built into the boundary wall of the churchyard the stone was relocated inside the church. In 1995 the stone was set in the wall of the church foyer, secured in place with a soft lime mortar. The church has been converted into a private dwelling, and the stone remains inside but visible through a glass panel.
