Full Description

War memorial adjacent to the main entrance of the Stoneywood Paper Works (NJ81SE0609), commemorating family and staff of Alexander Pirie and Sons Ltd killed in the First and Second World Wars. It comprises two bronze plaques, the upper for those lost in World War I, that for World War II below. They list the names and bear inscriptions which read 'BON-ACCORD 1898 ALEX PIRIE AND SONS LIMITED SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE FAMILY AND OF STAFF OF ALEX. PIRIE AND SONS, LIMITED WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR KING AND COUNTRY IN THE GREAT EUROPEAN WAR 1914-1919 AND IN THE WORLD WAR II 1939-1945 THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE'.

The memorial was rededicated in 1979.
