Remains of corn mill depicted on the OS 1st and 2nd edition maps, named as Grandholm Mills on the 1st edition and annotated Old Corn Mill on the 2nd edition. These show two adjacent buildings (one on a T-plan) in the east, with an L-plan mill building to the west alongside one lade, and further west a rectangular mill building alongside another lade. The western building appears to be roofless on the 2nd edition map. Remains of the mill were recorded by RCAHMS site visit in 1997. The eastern mill building, now ruinous, is two-storey, L-plan, surviving to the height of the gables. There have been several phases of construction and a cart entry through a red-bricked arch probably post dates the original building. The wheel was on the west gable of the short leg of the building, and was probably an overshot wheel. The gable end of the original building is visible above the ashlar work. Internally the marks of extension of the building to higher levels can be seen where a square column has been surmounted by brickwork, possibly a drying furnace. The second building to the west is rectangular with its east end overlying the western arm of the lade. It has an entrance at the west end of the north side. A fragment of millstone was found within the building. See also NJ81SE0217.
