Full Description

Remains of a radio station dating from World War II, including transmitter hut (NJ81SE0133), stand-by set housing (NJ81SE0131), concrete roadway (NJ81SE0137) and transformer plinth (NJ81SE0117), and a small circular brick and concrete building with a substatial porch and a roof mount for a dish/antenna. It is likely to have functioned as both an R/T (radio telephone) and D/F (direction finding) station for Dyce Airfield (NJ81SE0047). It appears to have been in operation for at least 50 years before being decommissioned in the 1990s. Building recording of the circular structure was carried out by Headland Archaeology in 2012 ahead of proposed demolition in connection with the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Road.
