Moir House was a garden house for Stoneywood House built in the 20th century. Building recording and was carried out by A Cameron in December 2011-January 2012 as part of wider survey and evaluation of land at Stoneywood ahead of proposed development (see NJ81SE0613). The house stood outside the southwest corned of the walled garden. A plaque on the south facade reads 'S.N.C-H H.M.R./1955'. Five trenches were excavated in the walled gardens and open garden to the south. Apart from a stone drain, no features or artefacts were recorded. A stone lean-to is attached to the north side of the garden wall. There was originally another building, since demolished, the scar of which is evident on the garden wall.
