Full Description
Burial cairn and war memorial. The cairn, probably Bronze Age in date, survives as a substantial earthen mound that is largely surrounded by a modern drystone retaining wall. It measures 17 m in diameter and rises to 2 m high. The Hatton of Fintray war memorial stands on the top of the hillock, and commemorates the dead of World War I. It is a squat rectangular memorial standing on a two step plinth of rough carved granite, surmounted by an octagonal pillar on the top of which is a cross. It was unveiled on May 29th 1921. Full transcription of memorial held in AAS Digital Archive.
