Full Description

Milestone on the Aberdeenshire canal. It stands lies west of Kinaldie Station and was No.12 of the Aberdeenshire Navigation (Aberdeen-Inverurie canal). A walkover survey was carried out by CFA Archaeology in April 2024 (NJ71SE0166), prior to the proposed development of a hydrogen plant. The survey found the milestone now built into the north face of a stone dyke bordering the north side of a track beside the railway. It is no longer in situ but may be close to its original location. The milestone was located during the field survey and shown to remain in its previously recorded position.
