Full Description
Remains of an animal pen. This small pen or enclosure is situated in an area of rough pasture on the East flank of Beans Hill. It measures 2.9 x 1.6m and its walls are 0.6m thick and 0.3m high. It is probably post-medieval in date and for penning animals. the pen could not be located with certainty during topographic survey carried out by Headland Archaeology in 2012 ahead of the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route. The site was covered in large spreads of clearance stone; the possible remains of a small enclosure were recorded as a low stony spread, loosely oval in plan.
