Full Description

Pump house built in the early 20th century to supply water to Blairs College. The college had originally been supplied from springs on the hill, but when New College was constructed a new water supply was built, with Dee water being pumped up from this pump house to a reservoir near Braeside (NJ80SE0104). It appears on the OS 3rd edition map, but not on earlier OS maps. An historic landscape survey of the Blairs estate carried out by MAS in 2012 ahead of proposed development recorded the pump house as a stone building with corrugated iron roof.
