Full Description
Former mill, built in the 19th century, of rubble construction. The 1st edition shows a large L-plan mill building, annotated as a corn and barley mill, with a small pond and rectangular building to the south. By the time of the 2nd edition map (on which it is annotated as a corn mill) the mill had been extended, and two new buildings added on the site of the pond. These and the southernmost building, as well as part of the mill, have since been removed. The mill was two storey with a loft, large kiln, forearm weathervane and overshot iron framed wheel. Subsequently converted into a restaurant and art gallery incorporating the pyramidal roofed kiln. Standing building survey of the mill was carried out by Cameron Archaeology in March 2014 ahead of demolition of part of the mill, with post-demolition survey carried out in May of that year.
