Full Description
Milestone still in use. It is not shown on the 1st edition OS map of 1869 or on the 2nd edition map of 1901, but others in the system of milestones on this road are shown on both maps. The stone is granite, rectangular, 32cm broad, 19cm thick and 56cm high. The top of the south-southwest face is bevelled and has the incised number '8' indicating the distance to Aberdeen. This road was formerly the main road from Aberdeen to Alford, replaced by the A944 to the south.
