Full Description

Former manse, still in residential use, with the rear section built in 1779 and the front part built and a complete remodelling carried out by John Smith in 1840. There is also a sundial dated 1810. It is shown on historic OS maps as having a walled garden to the north-west and an H-plan steading to the east. Current OS maps show some alterations to the former manse building, the northern section of the steading has been removed and two buildings added further to the east. The B-listed manse building has a three-window front that has the centre bay advanced with a round-headed doorpiece that has a plain stepped hood-mould. The 1840 section of the former manse is crowstepped. The B-listed sundial is set within the walled garden to the north-west. It is inscribed 'MANSE OF SKENE 1810' and is of very fine incised freestone.

Listed 16/04/1971. Rear section of the manse built in 1779 with the front added and a complete remodelling carried out in 1840. The sundial is dated 1810.
