Full Description

Remains of stone circle of which two stones survived in 1919. On the south side of the north stone Ritchie noted eight plain cup-marks and on the north side near the top, one rather doubtful cup and ring mark. This northern stone has been moved adjacent to the field wall about 30m west of its previous location. A possible third stone is on the east of the dyke 19.5m to the south. The in situ southern stone is of granite, measuring 0.7m north-south by 0.65 east-west at ground level and stands 2.05m high. Its top is naturally bevelled with facets on the north and south. The former northern stone was recorded by the OS in 1961 as 1.9m high, but by RCAHMS in 1998 as 1.75m high. It is 0.93m north-south and 0.6m east-west. At ground level the stone is triangular, isosceles in form with the point facing south. Five cupmarks are visible on the east face at the northeast angle. They are roughly circular depressions circa 50mm in diameter and 10mm deep. The third stone is also granite, 2.1m high and 1.45m north-south by 0.45m east-west.
