Full Description

Church, built 1857-8 by John Hay as a free church, now Church of Scotland. It is rectangular in plan, with an east porch, bellcote and later halls added to the South. It is built of field stones with a wider granite base course, and rock-faced quoins, with a slate roof. The east and west elevations have small trefoil-headed windows. The North gable has a group of trefoil headed windows, with a large decorative relief arch in the gablehead, and a bellcote on the gablehead. The interior of the church is plain. There are a number of 20th century stained glass windows, including two in the North gable inserted in the 1950s to commemorate the centenary of the church. A war memorial stands in the churchyard on the North side of the church (see NJ80NE0515).
