Full Description
Cairn. Cruickshank and Gunn recorded (1929) that a cairn of stones (was erected on Brimmond Hill in 1627 as a base for a beacon (see also NJ80NE0313). OS could find no trace of this cairn in 1961. RCAHMS site visit in 2002 noted that a loose pile of rubble depicted as a cairn on modern OS maps is probably of relatively recent date, but an earlier cairn of earthfast, grass-grown boulders is visible beneath it. The earlier cairn measures 6m in diameter and 0.6m in height.
