Full Description

Quaker burial ground, dating from the 17th Century. It was built by Alexander Jaffrey who died in 1673. It is depicted as disused on the OS 1st and 2nd edition maps. The burial ground is a rectangular dry-walled enclosure, measuring 23.8m by 18m, with a blocked entrance in the East side. There are no gravestones visible. A plaque set into the South side of the enclosure reads: 'Kingswells Quaker Burial Ground : Here were buried a number of Quakers : including : Alexander Jaffrey of Kingswells : Provost of Aberdeen 1673 : Sarah Cant his spouse 1673 : James Forbes of Bervie 1682 : Alexander Skene of Newtyle : Baille of Aberdeen 1693 : Andrew Jaffrey : 4th Laird of Kingswells 1726 : Robert Melvin Weaver 1808'. The burial ground is no longer in use.
