Full Description

Building depicted on the 1st and 2nd edition OS maps as part of the Gas Works and dating to 1837. Built in the style of William Robertson, Elgin. It is a small, square, single-storey building with a narrow three-bay classical street front. It has an ashlar frontage and rubble rear. The centre entrance is in a shallow recess with flanking windows. A band course delineates a dummy attic storey, which has a central dated semi-circular tympanum flanked by shallow rectangular dummy attic windows. The corniced pediment has end and apex wallhead blocked bases, formerly with ball finials or urns. The rubble flanks have blocked windows, and there is a brick end stack to the slate roof.
